Messages in bottles

Hey all ... just a reminder. If you click on a pic, it will bring up a bigger, whiz bang version for your 'ohh ahh' optimum viewing pleasure.

The comments thingo seems to be out of action. If you have anything you'd like to say to me, and I would be happy to hear from you ... unless you are a spammer or such creepiness ... shoot me an email: fitunny@bigpond.com Cheerio, Fi.

Fabulous Friends

The Yellow-tailed Cockatoo's came to our backyard to feed on our banksia. This is the first time we have been lucky enough to have them visit. They have pretty much scoffed all the tree has to offer so I don't think they will be back for a while. Note to self – plant more trees!

Muppet Face

Now really, how wild is this bird? It kind of looks like a muppet sitting in a tree.
So weirdly, wildly beautiful.

Blackie

Take Away

I am so thrilled – we have had visits from amazing Black Cockatoo's! This one nabbed a banksia cone from our backyard, then flew down the back to the big old gum tree to munch the bounty.

How Pretty Can a Little Bird Be?

'Cause the littlest birds sing the prettiest songs
The littlest birds sing the prettiest songs
The littlest birds sing the prettiest songs
And the littlest birds sing the prettiest songs'
Jolie Holland 'The Littlest Birds'

Oh My Pretty One

I LOVE the wee Eastern Spine Bill's. I don't think it's mutual.

Zen Bird

Like a Japanese wood cut print.

Goose and Gander

Just doing what they do.

Classic Shakey Shot

Wild shaking water hound.

Is It A Bird, Is It A Kite?

Not quite sure what this beauty is, either an eagle or a kite. But so majestic and stunning and so curious about the two humans and the canine below. Sussed us out good and proper.

Shake That Thang!

A shake to the left ....
A shake to the right ...

Murphy Power

 Doing what she does!

Life's a Perch

Sweet wee swinger.

Australia's Got Talent

These birds are so lively and they are such loud and proud songsters – they put on a brilliant little show.

Tyrannosaurus Goose

I ever there was a case for birds being descendants of the dinosaurs, I reckon this is gotta be it!

Here Goosey Goosey

Now these birds were whopping great waddling specimens. Just doing their thing near the bay. I've looked in my bird book and can't be sure what kind of geese they are. I watched them chase and honk at one chap before I ventured forth for a few snaps. I was a bit nervous but they loved me! Well, ok, not 'love' but they put up with me. Ok, so they ignored me.

Wing Work

Birds of the Sea

Some seagulls are pretty ugly. And some are rather pretty. I think this one was rather lovely and we had quite a long chat. We agreed that vinegar and chips should never meet, but a splash of lemon can quite refreshing after a long day riding the thermals.

Watch Out Shell Dwellers – The Oyster Catchers Are Coming!

If ever there was a beak made for catching and eating oysters, this is it.

Stunning Eyelashes

Click on this pic for a closer look. See the delicate eyelashes? Pretty and proud.

Beach Maggie

A little forlorn after the dust up with the big gull.

My Work Here Is Done

Away to feather the nest or catch a fish.

Bird Wars

This stand off was all about a chip! The maggie put up a valiant show, but was no real match for a 67 cm high, kilo's worth of gull.

Pacifica

The Pacific Gull is a dapper kinda bird whose hobbies include long beach walks, dining on fish, molluscs and other birds plus a spot of nest renovating in the weekend.

 Massive, powerful angel wings.

Have I mentioned that this bird was massive? I nearly choked on my chips when I saw it.
