Honey Honey

A new visitor to the garden is the Yellow-Faced Honeyeater.  In between nectar slurping this one was beating up the little wrens and spinebills who also wanted a frolic in the blossom. Quite the bully bird!

Avian Action

I could watch the avian antics of the New Holland Eaters for hours. Clever cookies!

Foiled Again!

You have to look closely (yep, I need that super zoom – remember if you click on the pic it will bring it up big) but this Galah is happily munching on a seed or such.  See the freaky claw at the mouth?

Buggar! Dropped it!

Bye bye dinner.

May as well clean up.

Big sooky, hungry Galah.

Bird-Scape

A vision of blurry beautiful birdness.

A Fine Perch

Two black birds surveying the land from a mighty fine vantage point.

Bird Patrol

Yep, I've been spotted. But this Galah ain't bothered!

A Good Day For Eating Honey

The Eastern Spinebill is one of my little sweet hearts. But they are so hard to snap! They only seem to come a calling now and then and they are so camera shy. I think this little sweetie is a boy bird because he has the beautiful patterns. The girls are decked out in slightly less fancy feathers.

Perched and Pretty

A couple of Galah's enjoying a good gander at the two humans and four-legged pooch wandering around below them.

Blossom Bird

A wild Wattle Bird getting busy in the blossom.

Ooh La Galah

Galahs are a common kind of cockatoo and Aussie icon.
They might be common, but they sure are pretty.

Dapper Darter

I do believe this is a Darter, a pretty hefty old water bird I spotted out at our local reservoir, which is now a haven for wildlife after years of miserable drought.

The snake-like neck is a very handy fishing tool – not so good for the little fishes.

Still Life

Yay – he sat still-ish for one second! I'm loving the stripes on his face – nice work Mother Nature.

Little Fantail

These little birds are new visitor's to the garden. The Grey Fantail – quite different to the New Zealand Fantail. The bird book says, "very active."  Yes, I can vouch for that!

Massive and Mighty

Now I really wouldn't want to get in a boxing ring with this one. Check out those shoulders! Not too mention those claws!

Kanga Watch

This lovely one was part of a mob enjoying an afternoon graze. A while back I saw two big kangaroo's swimming! Swimming across deep water for quite a distance. So amazing! And I didn't have my camera – still kicking myself!

Eagle Alert

A Wedge Tail Eagle swooping around looking for dinner. Powerful, beautiful and bloody impressive.

The Three Cockatoo's

Aren't wings amazing? I wouldn't mind some. Pretty impressive how cockies can screech and fly at the same time. It must be fun!
